We are very pleased to introduce 4 fine Scottish Single Malts specially selected to commemorate the 150th anniversary of a storied Canadian regiment.
The 36th Peel Battalion and the 20th Halton Battalion of Infantry were both Gazetted in 1866. Both units were Regiments of the Line. However, their Scottish heritage was sown with the Marquis of Lornes’ visit to the 20th Halton Battalion in 1879. They formed a pipe band in 1881 and started wearing tartan trews and diced glengarries. The 20th Halton Rifles became the 20th Halton Battalion, Lorne Rifles. Many of today’s Regimental traditions date back to this historic visit.
Amalgamated in 1936, creating The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) their 150 years of service reflects the history of Canada spanning the Fenian Raids, the Northwest Rebellion, South Africa, the First World War, the Second World War, the Cold War, and the War in Afghanistan, as well as NATO and UN peacekeeping missions abroad and natural disasters at home, the Regiment’s record of service reflect its 150 years of proud heritage.
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of this storied regiment, we have selected four very special Glenfarclas whiskies, 8 yr old, 10 yr old and 12 yr old – to honour each of the founding regiments (Peel, Dufferin and Halton) and finally, a single cask bottling of 2007 Glenfarclas, in honour of the Lorne Scots.

GLENFARCLAS DISILLERY 8 YEAR OLD LORNE SCOTS COMMEMORATIVE EDITION – SPEYSIDE
Glenfarclas was named Distiller of the Year in 2006, and has been owned and operated by the Grant family for six generations. They are renowned for their sherried expressions of Speyside Single Malts. You can expect that sherry tone to lurk around the honey, dried fruit and gentle sweetness you will find here. This is a special relabeling of the Glenfarclas 8 Year Old.
GLENFARCLAS DISILLERY 10 YEAR OLD LORNE SCOTS COMMEMORATIVE EDITION – SPEYSIDE
“Candied red apple, molasses, kiwi, sugared orange, cinnamon, clove, and honey finish off a whisky that is warm, round, and pleasant with lingering smoke.” (Hans Offringa, 1001 Whiskies You Must Taste Before You Die, 2012, 2012).
GLENFARCLAS DISILLERY 12 YEAR OLD LORNE SCOTS COMMEMORATIVE EDITION – SPEYSIDE
“Nose: a wonderfully fresh mix of grape and mint. Taste: light, youthful, playful, mouthwatering. Less plodding honey, more vibrant Demerara and juiced-up butterscotch. Finish: long, with soft almost ice-cream style vanillas with a grapey topping. A superb re-working of an always trustworthy malt. This dramatic change in shape works a treat and suits the malt perfectly. What a sensational success.” Score – 94. (Jim Murray, Whisky Bible, 2016)
