Massaya Winery is situated in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley were 2nd generation owners – and brothers – Sami & Ramzi Ghosn have partnered with two illustrious French wine producers: Dominique Hebrard, former owner of Cheval Blanc in St Emillon, and brothers Daniel and Fredric Brunier, owners of Vieux Telegraphe in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The shared expertise of these wine families unites to produce a collection of wines setting new quality standards in Lebanon. In addition to these highly regarded table wines, Massaya produces a delicious and popular example of the classic Lebanese spirit called Arak.
With a wine history dating back to the Roman era, the team at Massaya is successfully putting a modern spin on this ancient winemaking culture. The high elevation vineyards at Massaya yield 100% of the grapes used to produce this range of wines, including a white, a rose and three red cuvees.
The delicious and refreshing Massaya white is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Clairette and a local indigenous grape called Obeidi. The Massaya Rose draws inspiration from the great dry roses produced in the south of France and made primarily from Syrah and Cinsault and is finished with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. The flagship red bottling, dubbed Massaya Winery “Gold”, is a unique blend made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvedre and Syrah.
