2014 Domaine les Pallieres “Les Racines” Gigondas

FROM THE FAMILY BEHIND VIEUX TELEGRAPHE…

A Gigondas That Will Rock Your World…

The Brunier family is probably best known in the world of wine for their esteemed and highly collectible range of wines produced at the iconic Vieux Telegraphe estate in Châteauneuf du Pape. Here, they farm one of the most privleged and recognized terroirs at La Crau.

Today, we are very pleased to introduce an offering from this same family, grown in the neighbouring village of Gigondas. In the foothills adjacent to the Dentelles de Montmirail these vineyards are situated at higher altitude and are rooted in rocky inorganic soils that force the vines to struggle – thus producing lower yields, but incredibly complex and concentrated juice.

The “Les Racines” on offer today is produced from the vineyards immediately surrounding the winery. These parcels yield wines delivering immense freshness and drinkability. They are a perfect pairing for winter roasts – especially rack of lamb or prime rib.

$50 per 750mL bottle

“The 2014 Gigondas les Racines is truly gorgeous, and a serious wine in a difficult vintage for the appellation. From yields of 25 hectoliters per hectare, it has beautiful notes of black cherries, blackberries, hints of pepper and bouquet garni in a medium-bodied, ultra-fine, ultra-pure style. It’s a hidden little gem that will keep for a decade.”
