[ Why We Love It: ]
Well for starters, we love this because Lustau is the platinum standard in the production of fine dry Sheries. This is a reference point for what dry Oloroso Sherry is supposed to taste like – rich aged flavours and aromas of hazelnut, brown butter, caramelized apple, raisin, wood smoke and more. This is an intellectual drink made for thoughtful drinkers; you can sip on this as an aperitif or digestif – or better yet, serve it at the table with food.
Lustau Oloroso is an iconic match to serve alongside Spanish-inspired small plates, pintxos or tapas. It’s also a profound choice with braised meats, charcuterie or flavourful cheeses. If you fancy yourself a wine lover, then dry Sherry is simply an experience you can’t afford to exclude from your regular go-to drink picks. [ Tasting Notes: ]
“It’s silky and aromatic, suggesting caramel, liquefied roasted nuts and juiced dates, figs and apricots (assuming one could juice dried fruit), along with a yeasty, aromatic quality that wakes up the nostrils like a bakery located next to a diesel gas station. And there’s even a lovely salty tang running through it in the manner of lighter, bone-dry fino sherry.”
