Rave Review: VinousMedia.com on 2011 Ernest Burn Riesling Grand Cru Goldert Clos St Imer – 92 Points!
“Gold-yellow. White flowers and fresh citrus aromas are complicated by lemon, minerals and menthol. Very bright acidity lifts and extends the white stone fruit, lemon peel and honeyed peach flavors. Finishes long and extremely bright, with Goldert-typical freshness. The vineyard area located just above the Goldert sign in the grand cru features slightly more rocky soil; it’s the one section of the Goldert where Riesling does well (in fact, there’s not much Riesling planted in the Goldert), save in very hot years. Yields are always low, and were under 30 hectoliters per hectare in 2012.”
