WINERY PROFILE | Domaine St Gayan

“Looking at the next vintage, the 2012 Gigondas Tradition is a partially destemmed (30%) blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre that’s age in a combination of foudre, demi-muid and tank. A solid, quality effort, it gives up pretty red and black fruits, classic Gigondas spice and garrigue, medium-bodied richness and notable purity of fruit. Enjoy it over the coming decade. This was a rock-solid lineup of wines by proprietor Jean Pierre Meffre. While the Tradition and In Nomine Patris releases are staunchly traditional in style, the Fontmaria spends time in new oak and is the most modern-styled of the releases. They are all beautifully made and worth checking out.”
