Rave Review: eRobertParker.com on 2011 Sainte Croix Corbieres “Celestra” – 93/100 Points!

WINERY PROFILE | Domaine Sainte Croix

“The 2011 Corbières Celèstra is a total stunner. Made from 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvédre that was vinified and aged in a combination of Burgundy barrels and demi-muid, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. It offers lots of black fruits, liquid smoke, roasted herbs and assorted meatiness to go with a full-bodied, supple, sexy style on the palate. This beauty will give a top Chateauneuf du Pape a run for its money, and should have upwards of a decade of longevity. I first tasted the wines from this estate last year, and I loved the 2010s. These 2012s and 2011 are even better. Located in the Corbières region, the estate is run by Jon and Elizabeth Bowen and covers 13 hectares of diverse terrors. The style here could be categorized as modern, with complete destemming and aging in barrel, yet the fruit shines and these have terrific character. Don’t miss them!”
