Rave Review: Beppi Crosariol on 2010 Sainte Croix Corbieres – 94/100 Points!

WINERY PROFILE | Domaine Sainte Croix

“British expats Jon and Elizabeth Bowen, who run this estate 20 minutes north of the Mediterranean in the Corbières appellation, are part of a group that bills itself The Outsiders. Its members also include winemakers from Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, New Zealand and Bordeaux, all plying their trade in France’s Languedoc-Roussillon and all devoted to pushing the quality envelope in a place historically maligned as France’s jug-wine capital. This blend of 45-per-cent carignan with grenache, syrah and mourvèdre from 100-year-old vines is a stunner. Full-bodied and meaty, it shows flavours of sweet black currant, lavender, cracked pepper and an intriguing whiff of funky barnyard air. It’s available only by the case in Ontario ($239.40 for 12 bottles) in limited quantities…”
