Elegant and medium to full-bodied, this wine has a richness and concentration which cry out for fattier cuts of meat like beef or lamb. 95/100 Points: “An incredible dram from Glenfarclas, we can’t say enough about it. It’s a juicy, Christmas cake of a whisky, absolutely huge! This 15 year old matured in sherry wood, a superb malt which earned 95 points from Jim Murray. A lot of the whisky in this is clearly much older than 15 years, this is a really sherried dram and we love it.”
90/100 Points: ““Coffee, smoke, pencil led and toasty oak swirl around black fruit and a pleasant bitter, tannic grip in this robust red wine. Decant 1-2 hours and serve with filet for optimum pleasure. This AC wine finishes with vanilla smoke and cassis. Perfect with steak. A strong vintage for even Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux wines.”
94/100 Points: “Long and lively; packed with fruit concentration, citrus purity and white flowers. Green melon, smooth nutty oak, with hints of vanilla, build palate weight, nuances of spice, and other textural components. Good minerality and sour acidity pulses throughout the finish.”
It’s hard to come up with superlatives to describe Clos Mogador which haven’t already been used. There is something so seemingly mythical and lyrical – even poetic – about this iconic Spanish winery; a project driven by an abundant and authentic love of wine, family and history. An hour or so north of Barcelona we come upon one of the most scenic and magical wine regions I’ve ever had the privilege to visit.
