Rave Review: John Szabo, MS on 2009 Godelia Bierzo Red – 90 Points!

WINERY PROFILE | Bodegas Godelia

“Here’s another fine, fragrant, floral example of mencía from Bierzo, replete with dark berry fruit and violets, notable but integrated barrel spice, and overall complexity above the average. The palate is succulent and mouth filling, with undeniable density and genuine old vine concentration (40-80 years old), not to mention structure, and great length. A really superb value all in all, which makes one wonder why they would ever spend $20 for a basic commercial wine with barely half as much character as this cuvee.”
